{31 Days of Coastal Style} Dressing Coastal Style

I've had fashion on my mind today, so I thought I'd sort of do a "crossover" post from decorating your home, to decorating yourself! :) Here are 3 simple ways to add coastal style to your outfits, no matter what the season or occasion!

(Disclaimer: I wear skirts all the time, as a matter of personal preference, so the outfits you see here will reflect that-- but the fashion concept is the same, no matter what you wear!) ;)

1) Stripes

Thick or thin, and no matter what color, stripes are a perfect way to bring a touch of "nautical" preppy-ness (is that a word?) to any outfit! And they're not just for casual wear anymore...

2) Navy and white

Navy and white are a classic coastal pairing, not only in decor, but in fashion as well! But navy seems to be having its heyday now, even more than ever...

3) Textural accessories

Rope-- or knotted-- belts, braided bracelet, or textured leather provide the subtle finishing touch to your coastal getup.

So are you inspired to add a coastal touch to your outfits, like I am? Am I the only one that wishes that I could have my Pinterest closet in real life? ;)

{31 Days of Coastal Style} "The Lilypad Cottage" Home Tour

Kelly at "The Lilypad Cottage" is a mom with amazing style and an absolutely gorgeous lake cottage home-- as in, it's really on a lake, and it's also their full-time home! Her beautifully decorated house, which she and her husband built themselves, just goes to prove that you don't need an expensive interior designer or pricey furnishings to have comfy, beautiful coastal style!

I'll just sit back and let her beautiful pictures do the talking:

Can you believe all that gorgeousness exists in one home? You absolutely must go right over to The Lilypad Cottage and see more for yourself (and tell Kelly "hi" for me!)

Which part is your favorite? I'm torn between that breathtaking white kitchen, and the alphabet wall in the playroom! (I'm a sucker for typography, what can I say?) Although that view from the master bath is to die for, as well... honestly, it all takes my breath away!

{31 Days of Coastal Style} Weekend Daydreaming: Beachside Lounging

Today is a clear, crisp (that's code for "cold") fall day! Almost all of our autumn leaves are gone already, but at least the sun is shining brightly! At this moment, I'm lounging in the recliner, trying to put off doing the dinner dishes, and basking in the sunbeams streaming in my window. If I close my eyes, I can almost imagine I'm sitting here:

A comfy lounge chair, sunhat, giant umbrella, and the ocean at my feet? Now all I need is a good book (or my Kindle)!

What's on your agenda this weekend? Any lounging around, or avoiding dishes? (Or both?) ;)

{31 Days of Coastal Style} 10 Sea Creatures You Can Make Yourself!

Wow, I can't believe we're only 5 days away from the end of this 31 Day series! I really can't believe that I've only missed blogging on two of them (and that was when we went to a conference out of state!) It feels good to be back in the blogging saddle. :)

Today's post isn't going to be very long because, well, it's already been written for me :) Click on over to The Shed to find a round-up of TEN tutorials for making your own starfish, coral, seashells and even driftwood (perfect for making one of those driftwood projects!) Make sure to tell the lovely Laura that I sent you! ;)

Also, I would be remiss in not mentioning the tutorial I posted earlier this month-- how to make your own faux ceramic coral!
