You may have noticed that I went through and truncated each of my posts (i.e. made Blogger display only the first paragraph or two of each post on my blog home page), so that now you have to click "Read More" in order to read a whole post. The question is, is this a good change, or a bad one?
When I first started seeing blogs with truncated posts, it bugged me to have to clickto read a post (a whole extra finger movement... sheesh!) Now, however, I appreciate not having to scroll down/back through dozens of posts to find the one I'm looking for.
But what do YOU think? Yea, or nay? If you can see multiple posts at a glance, are you MORE or LESS likely to click and read an entire post? Thanks in advance for the input!

I've thought about doing that myself; however, after looking through several blogs, I decided that I did not like to click on the "read more" button, and so I simply limit my posts to 1 per page, allowing my home page for my most recent post, in its entirety.

I love blogs that way because then you easily find what you are looking for. I put mine on magazine style here on blogspot.com and really enjoy how it looks. Well at least that's what I think!
ReplyDeleteNot to truncate. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm for truncating. But I spent the better part of two hours today trying to figure out how to truncate my posts and never got there! Now I'm going over to figure out what "magazine style" is thanks to that Okalahoman!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a decision. You know I'm not sure which I like better. I guess I still lean towards the full posts. The format I (think I) want to change to when (if ever) I go to WordPress would be 3 full posts and the next 4 posts truncated beneath. Here are a couple examples of what I mean: http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.net/

I hate it... I like to see the pictures first then read and with truncated posts you can't see the pictures! I usually just leave those blogs.

I kind of like it. I like how clean and simple it makes a blog's homepage look. I've wanted to try this with my blog. Thanks so much for sharing. :)
